Needing a firing pin machined -
Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. I was doing some googling and came across this forum and started reading and found it very resourceful.
I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction and recommend somewhere or someone to work with. My local gunnery wasn't able to find anything. I have become the new owner of a Wamo Powermaster .22 Pistol. However, somewhere along the line of owners, the firing pin has been milled off. I'm sure it was for safety precautions, as this has been one of the more dangerous guns due to the sensitivity of the gun going off without the trigger being pulled. Since this pistol is from the 1950's, parts are pretty much null. Would someone be able to point me in a direction or know someone that would be able to machine a new firing pin for this pistol? Thanks, Garret. |

Welcome.
Have you looked into this gun? It seems like they wore out quickly and then were prone to slamfires. I wonder if it was rendered nonfiring due to this. Be careful in your pursuit |

So the pin body is still there but the tip is gone? You can retip the pin. Not difficult to do.
I made a firing pin for a client. It was a Ruby pistol. It cost $75 some 10 years ago. Half the price for retipping. No gun should fire by itself. I would either fix it or get rid of it. -TL Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

Sounds like the previous owner already "fixed it".

have you tried Jack First?
Some of my classmates had to make and harden firing pins as part of their exit-examinaton (you can take all the courses and get straight "A") but still not receive an A.S. in gunsmithing if you fail the exit exam at Trinidad. Any grad from there should be able to do it. I'm sharing a link with my classmates to see if there is any interest.

Nathan, yes I ran it over to my local FFL and we took it apart and could tell the firing pin tip had been milled off.

I agree on that no gun should be able to fire itself. I was hoping to clean this pistol up and resale it but these pistols resale for more when they fire. |

Don't think any of my classmates are interested.

Your best and cheapest option would be re-tipping as another member said. id highly advise you get it done by a gunsmith, so they can correct any safety issues prior to giving it back to you once re-tipped.
