I don't know the SAAMI specs but Berger recommends 3.340".

I just went through this in .308 win. The Berger website is your friend here. First you need to determine the OAL in your rifle with that bullet where it touches the rifling. Then Berger suggests you back off a few thousands of an inch and start there. You load at four OAL's. Just a few thou off the lands, .040 off, .080 off, and .12 off. Berger says you will find your sweet spot for your rifle in there.

SAAMI does not list OAL for any specific bullet, they publish a Max OAL for all Factory Ammo, the handloader is free to load to any OAL they wish.
Go here to find your Max OAL and reduce to your desired amount. http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/show...highlight=coal |

Your not getting that from Berger manual what you get is SAAMI spec max
OAL for the 270 which is 3.340" that is listed for Berger 130gr,140gr and 150gr bullet. If you have a copy of Nosler manual go to any page for the 270 you see SAAMI Max length 3.340" and tested length. Berger can't give you tested if that's what your looking for and Berger manual has about 30 pages on seating depth etc. You should get a copy of his manual before you start reloading for his bullets.
