Harder to find Springfield Loaded 1911?
I have a Springfield Loaded 5in that I just bought. But It's a lightweight model with OD frame and black slide. I have yet to see one just like it. They have the same color scheme in champions, operators, and all OD green loaded's. But I have yet to see the bi-tone LW with this scheme. Any one have any insight??

Operator model
Is that the 1911 Operator series in the Marine option?

No it doesn't have a rail. It's a "regular" loaded...

Good looking gun! I like that color combo. I was drooling over an MC Operator at the shop/range today. Really comfortable with the Pachmyr grips on it.
I already have the TRP as my full size though. I'm really wanting the Champion Operator as a companion.

It seems Springfield is having a problem ramping up to meet the demand.
I have a loaded M1911-A1 9mm on order and paid for through Bud's Guns. Looks like it will be another 6-9 months before I can expect to take delivery. OTOH, I did buy a Smith and Wesson 1911 Pro series 9mm that takes my mind off the Springer. Seems those guns are scarce also. Have about 150 rounds through it and it runs like a charm. Had to readjust the overtravel screw and loctited it in place. Probably ought to get rid of it, ( the screw ). |

God that thing is gorgeous..
My best friend has one, when he came back after a year I asked to see his SA Loaded, and installed the grips he liked on my SIG 1911 XO. Yeah, we ordered pizza and a had beer (right side of the pic). ![]() |

^^^^^ Sweet!!
BTW, was over at the LGS yesterday and was talking to a former Marine. I was over there to see about putting a FO front sight on the Smith 1911 Pro. He showed me his carry pistol and I noticed the grips had the Globe and Anchor on them. He said that his wife had given those to him. They were made from the camis of Vietnam marine veterans. He said they were only made for 1911's and were only made for marine veterans. He told me the grips were over a grand!! They were nice to be sure and have a lot of history, but they paid more for the grips than they did for the gun. |

Thanks for the compliments guys. The gun can definitely out shoot me. Ready to put some more parts in it. Already switched to Wilson GI guide rod and Ed Brown Plug. Want some VZ grips and possibly ditch the ILS. This summer I'm thinking about front strap checkering...
@scottl, do you have someone in particular I could call? Would love to know the history of the gun! Thanks |
