Cap N Ball Pistols out of stock at most retailers

I've noticed that alot of cap n ball revolvers are out of stock at most of the retailers, cabelas, bass pro shops, gander mtn, cheaper than dirt, midway, etc. I hope this is not a bad sign as to the economic situation in Italy. They all say they are back orderable. Thats one reason I ordered the brass frame '58 Army because thats the only one they had. I still want the steel frame, and a few others LOL. I hope they don't become scarce Now that I am extremely interested in them!

Cabela's had so many of the popular models on sale for such a long time that it created a large back order which they fill as the revolvers are received.
I think that temporary shortage led to not restocking the stores.
I noticed that my local Cabela's was nearly cleaned out with only a handful left on the shelf after Xmas.
Prices have now increased a little which will slow down sales while they restock.
Traditions is another large Pietta importer/distributor.
Their prices are usually higher so they probably have plenty of stock.

It's a normal ocurance. The manufacturers have to fill containers with product before they can be shipped. Don't specifically know what the O/S lag time is; but, most retailers will be flush by summer.

I think they like to keep a small inventory right around the very beginning of the year for tax reasons and reorder later in the spring.

The world sales figures must be top secret info.

When one considers that there's basically only 2 major revolver manufacturers and how large the worldwide demand is for them, especially during the holidays.
And how the manufacturers need to meet more than just the demand for them in the U.S., the entire volume produced must be huge.
Although the majority of what Cabela's sells are Piettas, it leads me to wonder what the actual worldwide sales distribution statistics are. Not only the percentage of yearly production that's sold by Cabela's, but also the percentages that are sold within the U.S., and for other countries too for each model and manufacturer.

Today- after much soul searching and looking around for guns for our store. We did pretty well for Christmas though. I decided on the 1858 Army Uberti (Case hardened) It cost more than the standard but it appeared mucch better.7.5 44c w/conversion cylinder. I ordered 2. I could not find a 5.5 inch barrel. I am looking for a Pietta short 44--if anyone wants to send me one. ha-I'll pay 190 in great shape. I also would like to have almost nib brass guns at reasonable price [email protected] Please help your local brick and mortor store against the forces of @#%$%

Well I take that back, My local Sportsmans Warehouse had the Pietta and Uberti's in stock. I have to admit the Uberti is a nice pistol, the fit and finish is better IMO, So I will be going back in a week or so and getting that Uberti. I also held the dragoon 3rd model and GOOD LORD what a HAWG LEG lol its definately on the must have list!!

Spare cylinders are out of stock as well. I ordered 5 spares for my 1858 Remingtons the 1st week of Nov. and they came in the last week of Dec.
