Taurus PT-809 Decocking Lever Not Working

I just bought a PT-809 by Taurus. I have shot about 50 rounds through it so far, and thought it performed well. After reading about the gun in the manual, I tried using the decocking feature by pushing the manual safety down (in the bottom position of the 3 position switch). After several attempts I haven't gotten it to decock. I took the slide off to take a closer look at the mechanics and it looked like it wasn't pushing forward enough the metal piece that held the hammer back. (Pardon my lack of jargon knowledge, I'm new to firearms).

Has anybody else experienced this problem, or may know what the problem is?

I have a similar problem - I can't get mine to go to the top position (safety).

Guess I will send it into Taurus.
