Winchester 94 - What does "EC" stand for?
I have a 1950 Winchester model 94. Just in front of the trigger, the letters EC are stamped. I'm trying to find out what the letters represent. Thanks in advance.

According to a few reference books these are either FITTERS or INSPECTORS marks. If the numbers or letters, ( they can be found with either numbers or letters ), are inside a circle, square, diamond, or is underlined then these are inspectors marks. If these numbers or letters stand alone they are fitters marks.

Thanks, 30-30. They stand alone, so they must be fitters marks. I assume, then, that they are the initials of the person? In 1950 would there have been many fitters, or would these initials show up on a lot of 94s from this period?

Tom, from what I have read there is no evidence refering to which initials and which numbers were which employee. I have done quite abit of research with no results. There are a few guns with no marks in front of the trigger, but these are rare, not of any additional value but quite uncommon.

Thanks, 30-30. I guess you're like me in wanting to know what codes/marks/symbols mean. I did some searching on the 'Net before I came here, and you're the first to offer any information. I appreciate it.
