New to re-loading; assistance needed.
No, I have not yet searched the posts for advice,
since I need a LOT of it. To the point, besides the dies and brass and bullets, what will I need to buy in order to start poking my own? Calibers will be .50AE, .444Marlin, and some 9x19 for recreational use. The larger calibers are for food plus recreation. My annual reloads will be approx. 1,000 ~ 2,000 total. Much thanks to you pros. |

May not wanna hear it but; Your first purchase shoule be at least two of the following. ABCs of Reloading, Lyman's 49th Edition Reloading Handbook, Lee's Modern Reloading, and mebbe later one or two from bullet manufacturers, one or two from powder manufacturers. Read ABCs or Lyman's, or Lee's and you'll have some insight as to what your reloading needs are. I'd suggest a single stage press to begin, and the instruction and manuals will show you the equipment needed...

ammosmith.com has loads of good reloading info, from the basics to advanced.
Check out their youtube channel. They also sell two very good, inexpensive dvds on the subject. |

I suggest reading the sticky at the top of the forum for a start: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230171

To get started on the right foot, buy a few books and read the sections/articles that describe each step and the importance of each step. In addition to new books, I recommend you go to Amazon and order a used "Metallic Cartridge Reloading" for about $10. Editions 1 through 4 are the best. Came out in the 80's, a long time ago, but the explanations from Ed Matunas the author are the best you can find.
Good luck and hang in there. Loading your own ammunition brings great satisfaction. |

I would, as many others, recommend the Lee Precision Classic Turrert
https://kempfgunshop.com//index.php?...mart&Itemid=41 You can use the Classic turret as a single stage as I do or in "turret mode" with the auto index. Get Lymans reloading manual and Modern Reloading by Richard Lee especially if you decide to use Lee Precision equipment as most people do. Also, check out owner reviews on Cabelas and Midway USA and you will learn what to buy and what to avoid. The owner reviews are very useful. |
