9mm reload info please!!

I have been using HP38 to reload 45acp and 380 with very good results.. my question is this... I recently purchased a USP 9mm and would like to reload for this pistol as well. I have accumulated a fair amount of Winchester brass and usually use Remington 1 1/2 or CCI small pistol primers for the 380. The bullets I would like to use/try are Hornady 124gr XTP HP and Remington 124 gr HP. In my Hornady book it shows load data for 115 gr XTP hp using 231, but not for 124 gr. Does anyone have a suggested starting load and COL for the Hornady bullet using HP38? The COL in the Hornady book is 1.060 for the 124gr. I would like to stay with one power for now if I can.

As additional reference I looked at Lyman's but they only show 125 gr HP Hodgons does not show Hornady XTP on their site and the information that came with the dies from Lee shows HP38 for 115 FMJ RN, but it lists different powders for 115 gr XTP's and lists no data for 124 gr XTP's at all.

Thanks for your assistance.

From Hodgdon's website for HP38:

Quote:
125 GR. FMJ HP38 OAL 1.090" Start - 4.4 gr (1009 fps) 24,600 CUP Max - 4.8 gr (1088 fps) 28,800 CUP
Make a dummy round (no powder/primer) and determine the OAL that feeds/chambers well from the magazine (I usually start from 1.125" OAL). If it is longer than 1.090", using the above published data should be fine.

BDS-THR beat me to it. Just use the 125 grain bullet information.

Jim

By the way HP38 and W231 is the same powder.

BDS-THR,
I see no data of the sort on Hodgdon's website. There's only 2 load references for the 124gr. One is for lead. They both are loads using Winchester's WSF, which is not a crossreference for HP38.

If you look at my post, I used 125 gr load data. My rule is that you can use the load data for a heavier bullet to work up your load and this case, 124 is hardly that much different from 125 gr.

Here's a screen shot for more load data for 125 gr, which you can use for 124 gr.
