Carbine Feeding

My M-1 Carbine only feeds round nose type bullets with any reliability. It even does fine with the Hornady half-jacketed bullets. Holow Points? Forget it!

A friend of mine also has the same rifle. His feeds anything he runs through it.

Those of you that reload for this rifle, do you have any problems like this?

My carbine feeds round nose soft points as reliably as full metal jackets. I think the carbine was designed for bullets with that profile, and maybe the solution is to just use those types of bullets. I guess you could try polishing your feed ramp. The only reloading problem that I've ever had with the carbine is, (because of the tapered case), maintaining enough neck tension to keep the bullet from occasionally getting shoved back into the case.

I have never tried HP bullets in my M1 Carbines. I tried the Soft Point 110 bullet and it functioned reliably. I have been using it ever since.
