Spring snow goose?

While reading NY's hunting publication I found an interesting little nugget I need to do some research on. Apparently there are snow geese up here and, like everywhere else, there are too many of them. The season is mid March to mid April, so that gives me plenty of time to prepare and it will give me something to look forward to when deer is done and turkey not in yet. That's the good news. Bad news is I know next to nothing about hunting them here or in the spring. Generally I've always understood waterfowling to be a December and January thing, and for me it usually meant Mississippi or Louisiana or Texas was where it was going on. So what's the scoop on this? Anyone know much about how you go about this in NYS in March? And where?

I don't have much to offer specifically to NY. Generally it's done layout blinds in big open fields. The flocks are usually enourmous in numbers. They come down in a spiral that looks like a tornado. Larger on top and they spiral down to a point where they land. Once they're coming down it's on like Donkey Kong. They're so loud you can do just about anything and still shoot a pile of geese. Usually you'll use a bunch of windsocks and or white plastic bags on stakes for decoys.

This is how I've done it in Wisconsin and Nebraska. I'd be surprised it NY was much different. They tend to be in big flocks and go for big open cornfields.

Yep, a big field where you've spotted them working. Used pieces of old sheet and laid them on the ground in LA. Laid down in the decoys or used a lay down blind.
