Yet another newbie question
I've been reading my reloading manual (Speer #14) as well as data on powder.
My question is about Cases and Bullets. Actually I suppose it's two questions. 1. Are cases created equal? I have a variety of cases Winchester white box, independence to name a couple, and I noticed on some of my gear it specifies case type but not in the manual. As long as caliber is the same am I safe to load NORMAL loads in them? 2. Bullets? Am I safe to load a bullet into a case with a particular charge as long as the weight and OAL are the same? for example. 180 GR. HDY XTP Hodgdon Titegroup .400" 1.125" 4.2 877 26,500 PSI 4.7 978 33,300 PSI that's from the Hodgdon site it specifies 180 GR. HDY XTP. Alas I don't have those what I was able to find for normal target shooting was. Winchester 40/10mm .400" 180 gr. Truncated Cone WB40TC180 So for given loading data am I save to load with that powder and those bullets. |

as long as you are not loading lead boolits at jacketed specs. you want to stay as close to the bullet type as possible. ie180 grain hp might have a different charge verses a 180 g round nose. biggest thing is dont load lead at jacketed charges
