Boycott surplusammo.com
i placed a order on the 6th of this month. 1krnds total and came to 239.14 after shipping to my door.
today i checked my account balance and saw that i was actually charged 260.38. so i called and found out that on their web site it doesn't employ the sales tax on the order. so i placed a order assuming i was going to only be charged $240 basically, but ended up being charged an extra $20. i talked with a guy named josh who basically said he can do two things, 1. me pay and deal with their lack of customer service, or 2. he can send a call tag for me to return the ammo and refund my money. he was not helpful at all, nor apologetic to what had happened. so they have now lost me as a customer since i was planning on ordering at least another 2k rounds in ammo in the next week. but because of their lack of customer service and/or information on their web site stating that sales tax is not added on at time of purchase i will NEVER order from them again. |

So they must be in WA, eh?
Anytime you order something from an in-state company, you are going to pay sales tax. Them's the breaks. I'm glad not many of the online ammo dealers are in Indiana, I never get stuck with tax. I've only ordered from surplusammo a few times, but have never had any problems. |

You have the ammo, you can shoot it and just buy from somewhere else next time.
The internet is full of surprises unfortunately. Anything else is just going to cost you more money. |

Josh at surplus called me and remided the issue saying that they are soposted to contact the buyer BEFORE they charge your credit card to let you know how much for sales tax.
he fixed the issue by offering some free stuff, and also the contact information for surplus is for a portland oregon, so another reason i did not think their location is in washington. |

Their Shipping & Returns page is sparce. Not much info there. Why did they charge sales tax when you are from Washington and they are in Oregon??

no their contact phone number lists a 503 area code which is portland oregon, but it shipped out from their store in tacoma, washington.
well i got home and opened the box to find only 360rnds of the 500 i had ordered, so i didn't even get the amount i had ordered. i can't believe this place. |

What more do you want the company to do? They offered to refund your money if you returned the merchandise. There was a misunderstanding but an option was given to rectify it. I see no reason to boycott just because you have a minor problem with them and not excepting their offer to solve the problem.

I just got 1000 rounds last week. First thing in the AM I'm going down to count my ammo. How many people actually count it after they get it? What a novel idea. |

only reason i counted was they are in 20rnd boxes(wolf was the .40S&W was in a garbage bag, but it was all there) and there should have been 25 so it would add up to 500rnds, but there where only 18. i also couldn't believe how they packed it in the box, all the wolf thrown in, the bag of .40S&W thrown in and a few pieces of newspaper, but plenty of room for most of the wolf boxes to come apart and the ammo all over the inside.

We have the highest end recently calibrated counting scales available in the world at my work that will count hair on a nats ass: Setra's. Each box of 500 had exactly 4 extra rounds. 504 per box = 2016 total. I was appreciative that the boxes still had real good rubber seals. So that's about what I know about this anyway. The only thing that surprised me, is that they wanted my drivers license scanned or faxed as proof of age and would not ship it until I did this. I was fine with that, seemed reasonable to me, although to get a credit card, you MUST be over 18. |

Just keep telling yourself that. I sent in 3 applications for actual credit cards before I was 18 cause I kept getting them in the mail. Wrote my correct B-Day on each one, and one send back a Visa card ![]() |

I use Surplusammo.com all the time, but I buy in-person from them at WAC shows. No tax at the WAC shows and the BVAC range ammo has been flawless. From my perspective, they've been perfect and I'll gladly continue to do business with them.

I received a pre-approved AE platinum when I was 12. THis was back when they sent out the actual pre-approved card and all you had to do was swipe it to activate. I wanted to max it and declare bankruptcy, would have been all cleared up by the time I was 19, but my 'rents wouldn't allow me to...
The good old days before identity theft. I think I have used them once or twice and had a pretty good experience. |

A trashbag full of Wolf is the most appropriate packaging I can think of.
The SA battlepacks I ordered involved no trashbags, maybe they were trying to tell you something. ![]() |

Surplus ammo's nonexistent customer service
A group went in together and put an order in which totaled $1300. Shipment delayed. Once order received (was packed well) there was an error. Multiple calls and emails unanswered. To say poor customer service would be a gross understatement. I would rather have poor customer service than "no" customer service. Unbelievable. Spend your money elsewhere.
