Quick Nosler question (9mm)

I'm having trouble finding load data for Nosler 115gr FMJ. Didn't check the box well enough and thought I was getting JHP. Now I'm just going to load them for the range simply because I have them. Lyman's #48 doesn't really impress me and the load data is so/so, but it doesn't include this bullet.

I got a recipe from the Alliant website using Unique. It calls for 5.5 gr with a minimum oal of 1.12. I've got a few loaded up at 1.135 oal with 5.2 gr. Does anyone foresee a problem with this?

Unless you are going for utter maximum loads, one 115 gr FMJ is much like another and data can be adapted. Note that the Alliant "recipe" is actually their maximum and they say on the introductory page REDUCE RIFLE AND HANDGUN CHARGE WEIGHTS BY 10% TO ESTABLISH A STARTING LOAD. You are almost surely ok at 5.2 gr (-5.5% and a longer OAL.)

Nosler was the most accurate 9mm FMJ I ever shot. I don't think they make them any more, you were lucky to stumble across some.

Thanks for the help. I figured all would be well, but it never hurts to get a second opinion. They shot just fine this morning so I'm going to load up the rest.

One of my local shops has about 1,000 of the 115gr Trophy FMJ, I think they're called trophy grade or something. Going for about $10.50/100.

By increasing the OAL, there is a very slight chance it will either not fit in your mag, or it will not feed properly, or it will not chamber properly. Try and see.

By increasing the OAL you reduce the pressure, so there is no danger of over pressure here.

I also agree with Jim Watson's comments.

Good Shooting!

fill up your mag and manually cycle them through... see if everything looks good. i.e. your slide is all the way forward when one is chambered.
