777 powder lot number dating
Hi
Does anyone out there know how to tell how old 777 is by the lot number? I was told that it is possible when buying the loose stuff that it can get old just sitting on the shelf(but I can't figure how) Also for the 50 caliber ignited by a 209 shotgun primer should I use FF or FFF Any info will be greatly appreciated daddus1 |

I know of no evidence supporting the thesis that 777 "gets old sitting on the shelf". However, I tend to use it up pretty quickly so I may not be the best authority. Hodgdon's web site doesn't give any information that would allow you to check the label for dating.
ffg should be just fine with a 209 primer. |
