.300 Weatherby Magnum loads = 30.06
This is my first trip into Magnum reloading land and I need some help.
The gun is not mine but a friends and he finds the gun has WAY to much recoil. (Heck, I find the gun to be brutal:barf ![]() He is only going to be using it for deer in the UP of Michigan and doesn’t need the power of the 300 or the range, or the flinch due to recoil. So the help I could use is any one out there worked up some good 30.06 type loads for ether the Weatherby or the Winchester mag that was also accurate. He won’t be shooting more than 150 yards. Bullet selection is no problem since I have just about every bullet every made for the 30 cal. |

Why don't you try some of the starting loads listed for 300 weatherby mag? Most of those are just above full power for 30-06 loads. Stick with a lighter bullet. I've had good luck loading down just a bit from starting loads with H4895 in other magnum calibers. It isn't the faster powder out there, which would be a good thing for you.

Good idea
I was also hoping some one would have some charges that they had tried, that they had luck with that I could start out with.
We dont have hundreds of casses so I was hoping for a starting point. When it comes to the rounds that I reload (30.06, 6mm Rem, 223, 45-70) the lighter loads can be about as accurate as throwing stones from 100 yards. Since I have no experance with Mag casses I diddnt know if they have the same problems. |
