Bench rest primers

Have got back into shooting after being lost for 8 years. I will be loading for
223 and 22-250 both bolt action I have quite a few large CCI bench rest primers can I use them in both of these calibers? These primers have been sealed in a air tight metal container.

No.

The .223 takes a small primer. They would be good for the .22-250 but...One thing to keep in mind is if you work up a really good load, changing primers later may make the load change. Note: I DID SAY MAY.

Primer life

8 years stored with no moisture and no extreme heat shouldn't affect primers at all, IMHO. If the primers sat in the hot sun a lot, all bets are off.

I use CCI Benchrest primers and have been very satisfied with their performance.

Rimrod is right; changing primers later MAY affect the performance of the load. Standard wisdom is whenever you change any load component, start back at the "starting load" level and work up, looking all the way for signs of overpressure.
