Sigma Striker Removal

I have a S&W Sigma SW9F pistol. Need to remove the striker assembly to replace the striker spring. Looks like the rear cover plate needs to come off the slide, but I can't figure how to remove it. Don't want to screw things up, so thought I'd ask here first. Thanks in advance, Andy

U need a small punch

The striker has a plastic sleeve around it that engages the rear slide cover plate. you should be able to see it just ahead of the striker lug. Set the slide muzzle down on your bench top. Place the tip of your punch on top of that sleeve and push it toward the muzzle end of the slide. Now with your other thumb push the slide cover plate off. BE CAREFUL, the extractor spring and plunger is also held in by the slide cover plate. Cover it all up with your thumb when you push the plate off. When you reinstall it, start the plate back on and it will make contact with the striker sleeve. Push the sleeve down while holding a little pressure on the plate. It will then hit on the plastic bearing on the back on the extractor plunger. Push it down while holding pressure again and will lock in position.

Thanks a Ton, Lazy D. Just got done with reassembly. Pretty simple if you know the trick. I put in the Wolff spring that is supposed to reduce trigger pull. Can't really tell the difference, will have to get scale back from Brother in Law. Thanks again, Andy
