Ruger model 77 243 help needed
I have just bought a ruger model 77 243. My father and I have suceed in removing the iron sights save the front sight base. We have taken out all of the screws but we can't seem to get it off. It lookes like it is just stuck around the end of rifle but it won't come off. If anyone has any suggestions then please e-mail me or post a reply, I will be ckecking back daily.
Thank You |

Just one question. Why do you want to remove the iron sights? They are invaluable if the scope fails.

Gentlemen, where are your manners?
![]() Annie, welcome to TFL! Pull up a chair and set awhile. Your front sight may be silver soldered on. Any competent gunsmith can take it off for you, but you'll need to do some refinishing of the barrel. |

Welcome Annie!!!
As Steveno said, the front sight base may be silver soldered in place, and that will take a bit of heat to remove it. That will also probably require refinishing the barrel to restore the appearance. It's also possible the sights may have been added by the previous owner. Might be worth taking it to a reputable gunsmith for evaluation. |
