Are you using a roll pin punch? With the little nipple on the end?
If you're not, you may be forcing it even more tightly into the frame and defeating yourself.

Ditto on Mike's post. I had the same problem replacing a set of sights on my Dan Wesson 715-2. I was using a normal punch on a roll pin, and just ended up expanding the pin. Bought a set of roll pin punches from Brownells for about $15 and knocked the same pin out in about 3 taps. They're well worth the money.

Well, no I was using a flat ended punch, since I wasn't aware of such a thing as a roll pin punch. Of course this worked for the other two, so I thought I was OK, but obviously NOT. Looks like a trip to the Brownells site to buy a set of roll pin punches.
Many thanks, gents. I knew you'd come through for me. Doug444 |
