Powder Tracking
Last week I went to purchase some powder and components in a large sporting goods shop in Calgary. At the check out the clerk asked to see my drivers liscense, and requested me to fill out their "powder book", which asked for my name, address, driver liscence number, type of powder and type of firearm the powder was intended for. Naturally I refused as this was a home spun binder just sitting behind the cash register, what a great source of info for anyone who had a mind to sit down and track who buys what powder for what type of rifle. I walked away without the powder and other components, and the store lost a $700 sale. Infact they've lost all my business, which last year was over $5000.
Went to Edmonton the next day to a small mom and pop operation got much better service, paid a little more but got NO hassles, infact they helped me out to the truck with all the stuff I bought. Seems they were approached by the city police to start tracking powder sales as well but declined. They will get all of my business exclusively. Any other Canucks out here have similar experiences?? |
