45 colt cowboy loads, unique, or bullseye??
I'm using blue dot now, but I'm looking to change to a powder that goes through my measure a littler better, and is a little cheaper to reload.
Also, blue bot is really dirty in short barrelled, low power loads. |

CAZ223, can't help you with a Unique or Bullseye load, but if you want a pretty clean powder that meters well try Hodgdon TiteGroup. I have been using 6.0 grains and a 250 grain LRNFP sized .452, over either a CCI 300 or a WIN WLP for 3 years now. Shoots great in Blackhawks, Vaquero's and a US Firearms Rodeo. The load averages 820 fps for me out of a 5 1/2" barrel. My SASS shooting pardner uses 5.6 grains for slightly less recoil in his Vaquero - but we both use the 6.0 grain load in the M92 Winchesters.
NG Bruce P.s. For another powder choice, I use 7.0 grains of Hodgdon HP-38 (the powder meters fine, but is a bit dirtier that than the TiteGroup). This load chronographs 790 avg fps from the same 5 1/2" Blackhawk. |
