Value of an original 870 police top folder
Does anyone know the value? I have a friend that wants it and would like to know a fair price to charge him. Thanks

No idea on price....
But what I want to know is how the folder works with the sidesaddle, mine can only have one or the other on at a time!!! Is the stock plastic or metal, mine is plastic. |

Yeah, I thought of that but the folder is just too thick, even if it was cut it wouldn't hold rounds. Nice gun though.
I need to find a metal folder |

GunGeek,
What you do to make the sidesaddle work with the top folder is to take the plastic shell holders off the aluminum backing plate (6 little allen head screws) and cut that plate down. Then you re-attach the plastic part and the stock slips down behind the plastic shell holder and the reciever. Not too hard to do a works great. |

That would work for a metal folder, but the one I have is plastic with thick "ribs" on the side. Where can I find a metal one??? |

GunGeek,
Didn't notice that you mentioned yours was plastic in your post. The one in the pic and the one I have are both the original Remington made version which is metal. You have one of the recently made versions that copies the original Rem version. Don't know about using the sidesaddle with the plastic version, probably now way to make it work. About the only way to get the Remington metal version is to find one used for sale. I know there was a guy selling a bunch of them on E-bay awhile back that he had refinished. I picked mine up used many years ago |

Allene223,
Last time I saw one of these used for sale they were around $80. I haven't seen one in a while however. About a year ago I saw one LNIB asking price was $135 IIRC. Rob |

Thank you Rod! But I was wanting to know about the whole gun. Do you have a idea about the gun it self.

I would imagine the whole rig should be about $300 minimum. Figure $80 to $125 for the stock, $200 around here will get you an 870 police trade-in or Express.

What is original on that SG?
The extension is not factory, nor is the front sling attachment or sidesaddle. The last trade-in I bought was 155.00. I would add 80.00 for the folder. 300.00 seems high to me. That's Marine Magnum (nickel finish, factory extension, synthetic stock) territory but what you sell it for and what I'd pay for for it are probably quite different. ![]() It is a nice looking piece though.
