As a general bullet weight, I found the 165's gave the best accuracy and velocity combination in the 06. As far as game getting ability and accuracy, the Nosler 165 Partiton for elk and moose, and the 165 Hornady Interloc for deer and antelope.

Regards, Shoney

I, also, have had good luck with 165 grain bullets in my .30-06. Use it on whitetails. I found IMR-4350 to give me the best accuracy but IMR-4895 and H-4895 are also good.

I've been using the 165gr Barnes X-bullets over H-4895 with real good results. I tried 180 gr ones but those we're almost too much for the type of shots I was always presented with.

Been out of whitetail country for years, my 06's have generally liked Hornadys the best...plain ole 4350 in the 180 SST's and 180 boattails both produce moa's or better.

I'll dissent

from the others and say that in my 03A3 I've used bullets from 110 gr to 180 gr and nothing works like Hornady 150 gr spire points, which will group into 1/2" at 100 yd. They have all the power you need for whitetail deer, something like 2800 ft-lb at the muzzle.
