Mauser 1914 7.65 Firing pin not releasing

I acquired a Mauser 1914 (7.65). I cannot figure out why the firing pin will not release. There is a "clink" when I pull the trigger, but the FP does not release (safety on or off, its the same thing). I have reassembled it a number of times, and everything seems correct. I brought it to a shop, and they suggested that I replace the magazine. Still not working. Open to ideas.

If you hear a "clink," why do you think the firing pin is not releasing?

How far did you have it stripped down? The wishbone type spring for safety can
cause problems because of the weird safety. Although I have seen them function without the spring. I would do complete tear down and cleaning. Wolf has complete spring set for less than $20. Gun won’t function without magazine but if inserting mag and slide goes into battery, stripping a cartridge into chamber it’s probably not magazine. A decent mag will run $100+.

The back of the firing pin can still be seen on the back of the frame. The click seems to be connected with something with the trigger, but not the same feeling as a pin being released.

I have completely taken the the pistol, including removing all of the parts and reassembled, a number of times. I did get another spring that I can try and see if that works.

Thank you both. I'll try the spring and see if that works.
