M1 Carbine vertical stringing

I have an M1 Carbine that I want to shoot in CMP games matches but it exhibits vertical stringing.
Any ideas on how to correct this?

I have several .30 Carbines and I don't believe any of them have an issue with vertical stringing. The only thing that crosses my mind is to make sure all screws are tight and that there is nothing wrong with the bedding.

If you remove the hand guard and barrel band the barreled action should "hang" at an angle.
You should have to push the barrel down into the stock to assemble.

If this doesn't help, buy the Kuhnhausen Shop Manual on the M1 Carbine and start trouble shooting....

how much vertical stringing are we talking about?

How wide are your groups? basically what is the ratio of width to height?

What distance?

What ammo are you shooting, inconsistent ammo can contribute to vertical stringing.

Sorry for the delay

In responding. I kept the target from the range trip so I could have the info but someone threw it away. Hope to get to the range and get that data written down.
Ammo used was the Korean surplus which others have had such good luck with.

Problem solved.

Late WW2 Inland M1 Carbine with adjustable rear sight and bayonet lug.
After field stripping I discovered the recoil plate was loose and cracked.
This kept the action from proper tension in the stock. I obtained a replacement
recoil plate and the resulting proper tension solved the stringing issue.
My recollection of the target that showed stringing was from tge top of thec10 ring to 12 o clock in the 7 ring.
After replacing the recoil plate the group was entirely in the black scoring 95
I appreciate the guidance.
