M1 Carbine vertical stringing

I have an M1 Carbine that I want to shoot in CMP games matches but it exhibits vertical stringing.
Any ideas on how to correct this?

How much is the stringing? Did you shoot it supported or offhand?

I have an IBM. I glass bedded it so that the bayonet lug assembly always slightly tensioning down on the barrel. That takes away possible slops. The design is not really for accuracy. That's how much I could do to improve. It can also be done by shimming.
