HAPPY NEW YEAR! Black Powder Style!

The Pietta G&G started the show with her little 18 grain charge. The two 44's finished the festivities with their, well, more SPIRITED Charges. The muzzle blast from the snubby was impressive (its in my right hand). I hope you ALL have a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and may it bring you much happiness!!

disclaimer: No alcohol was used in the making of this New Years Celebration (as I don't consume alcohol, I prefer sweet tea with my Bon Fire), Revolvers were discharged in a safe manner and location, Careful planning went into where the round ball will STOP!

Nice way to blast in the New Year.

I used to load my ROA with foil covered paper balls and shot them as noise makers for Fourth of July, Chinese New Year or whenver I wanted. Neighbor thought I was shooting real boolits until I aimed at a wall he could see and saw that nothing impacted. Glad he didn't call PoPo on me (he's a family friend).

I found that tightly wadded toilet paper is enough to make a good noisemaker. 10-20 grains of Black use the rammer for the TP and a very satisfying bang is produced W/O projectiles.

Now that I live in the woods, I'm unsure about using newspaper. I once threw smoldering ashes onto the snow and the grass that was above the snow began to burn. Had to grab a snow shovel and cover the grass with snow to smother it.

My point is depending your location, you might not want to use any paper products that could start a fire. It may be better to use the foil from a chocolate bar or from cigarette packs (do they still use foil in either?).

Every New Year the neighbors put on a big show.

i load up the .58 New Englander with 120 grains of Grafs BP tamped with with a big wad of tinfoil.

There is deadly silence for several minutes after my gun goes off.
