Grip difference

Just getting into CAS, and I have a minor issue - I don't like the traditional plow handle grip. My knuckle gets bumped into the back of the trigger guard - with my Remington New Model Army clone under hevay recoil it's even worse. I was considering just going with a pair of 1875 or 1890s, but I discovered something else. I found that the grip for my 1873 Birds Head doesn't jam my knuckle too close to the trigger guard. Anyone else feel that way? I am away from the house and cannot measure it, but is the grip relieved farther away from the trigger guard with a Birds Head? It feels that way, and is very comfortable to shoot, even with full power Magnum loads.

This is my only main match revolver right now, unless I do an oddball pair up of the 1873 and the NMA with Howell 45 Colt conversion cylinder.

Thank you for your replies.

My opinion is only my own.
But I have found, over the years, that people who have problems with their fingers getting jammed/bashed into the trigger guard(s) fit into two categories:
1. Unteachable/insufferable double-action shooters.
2. Really fat/big hands.

If you don't have big/fat hands, it is a technique issue, in my opinion.
The fact that you find that particular "birds head" grip suitable tells me that you are probably an insufferable DA shooter. -- No insult intended. It is a very difficult thing to unlearn, if that is the only grip that you've known.

I don't try to cram all of my fingers on the grip. I curl my pinky finger under the grip.
