Refinished Savage 110
Here is a Savage 110 that I refinished recently, it wasn't heavily pitted, just small rust spots and some worn bluing from field use.
I polished the barrel to a gloss shine, then gave the bolt handle and receiver a matte finish. I think it turned out pretty good ![]() ![]() ![]()

After polishing I thoroughly clean the metal, then soak in a Hot/Caustic bath which is Sodium Hydroxide and Sodium Nitrate with some water, heated to 290 degrees.
This is how most gun makers have been bluing guns since around WWII
