Web page on constructing paper cartridges.

I have compiled my information on making 1855/1862 US Expanding Ball cartridges and 1855/1959 British Enfield cartridges on a new web page.

You can see it here:

Do you have a smooth sided .577 Pritchett ball mold? What do you do for the boxwood plug?

Noe Bullet Molds just made a run of .566 Pritchets, and I got one. They are also doing a run of the later style .550 Pritchets, but I did not get in on that buy; I hope to get one anyway.

They also sell an aluminum tray cut through with conical holes; perhaps 50. You can fill these with clay and fire them in a kiln or use Bondo.

However, the Confederacy omitted the plugs on their copies of this style of cartridge.

Steve, I wasn't even aware of that stuff (both the mould and the thing to make the plugs out of bondo). Too late for me.

You might email and ask. I just got in on the .550 diameter Pritchet even though the order was "closed".

How well does it expand with that bondo plug? What's the accuracy like?

I have not shot the bullet yet, so I don't know.

I'm not getting good fills with my bottom pour pot so I ordered a ladle to try some ladle castings.
