Tingle single shot in-line .40
I think it was CVA that made a .44 copy of these recently, but Bob Tingle of Shelbyville, back home in Indiana, used to make .40 in-line single shots that vaguely resembled the profile of Remington 1858s. Anyone have any experience with them?
I ran across one yesterday that had a superlight trigger that would allow push-off to the half-cock notch - the store is fixing that issue, but I was pretty excited about maybe picking the gun up, just to fuss with. It had the appropriate Tingle marks, but I recall it had a steel frame instead of the brass ones I know I've seen before. Might be a fun Hoosier "little brother" to the T/C .54 Scout pistol I have. ![]() Anyone have any thoughts or experience with the breed? Last edited by Erich; August 22, 2010 at 07:31 PM. |

I don't know that Bob made a brass frame. I know some of the Italy clones
had them. They are a fine pistol. One of our club members uses one. Bob's go for around 900.00 |

If so, I built two of these kits a few years back. Understand that I am not familiar with the Tingles but may be familiar with the CVA's. You description comes very close, especially the light trigger. Be Safe !!! |

I've seen photos of early Shelbyville-marked brass-frames from Mr. Tingle.
![]() ![]() From this thread: http://forums.gunboards.com/showthre...re-the-tingles This one I'm considering is the steel frame Model of 1960, though. Thanks so much for letting me know that they are good quality pistols. I figured, but . . . well, it's nice to hear it from someone who knows. ![]() "Prospector"! Yep, that's the one, Pahoo! I couldn't recall it. So, I've talked to the store today, and they told me that the push-off issue has been repaired. I'm having a difficult time finding comparables on the auction sites for value consideration - not many of these things out there. ![]() ![]() http://rock-island-auction.ammoland....5-june-09.html Last edited by Erich; August 23, 2010 at 08:59 PM. |

I now know the origin of the CVA Prospector. I have two and only shoot one and it's fun to shoot and easy to clean. Mine is rated at a .44 PRB but have never tried to find a conical to shoot. The instructions listed a .451 round ball but sure that was an error as it is a single shot pistol. Thanks again for your post.
Be Safe !!! |

Tingle pistol stock
Hi, Do you still have the Tingle pistol and items you had for sale or possibly trade? I have seven of the pistols and have been trying to pick up one of the stock attachments? Would you consider parting with the stock and accessories? My email is [email protected]. Tks for your consideration.
