RCBS Uniflow and Micro Adjust Screw

I'm probably going to wake up tomorrow and realize I asked a dumb question, but here goes....

I have an older RCBS Uniflow and just received the large micrometer adjustment screw, which means it is supposed to be installed down through the powder hopper. It does fit the metering chamber, meaning it is the 11/16 metering chamber, however it will not slide all the way down through hopper and the metering chamber and out through the bottom. Almost seems like I need to file to lower edge of the Uniflow housing to give it that last bit of space. It's sort of like trying to fit a couch around one of those corners in the house that just isn't large enough without something being modified.

Maybe it's a case of an old Uniflow and a new micro adjust screw and I just need to file down that housing, but hopefully someone can set me straight. Thanks guys.

I would measure the piston that was removed and compare with the new replacement, with the rotor/drum removed I would attempt installing the rod forward and backwards and rotate. I have three presses that use the uniflow case activated powder measure, spare parts is not a problem, you could consider sending both drum and micro adjuster to RCBS.

I would clean with a dowel on a towel but I am not a big fan of stock removal.

Never had to do one that way, and my Uniflows are old (and I have both sizes).

The biggest issue I had was that you really need two Uniflows since any zero you had is lost in changing out the rotors.
