shotshell primer substitution question

I want to reload 20 gauge Winchester AA target loads - either 3/4 oz. or 7/8oz. On the Alliant powder reloader's guide, all of the listed loads for 20 gauge AA shells list a Win 209 or Rem 209P primer. I have some CCI 209 primers and wanted to use those if possible. Is there any problems with subbing the CCI for the Win or Rem primers?

Switching primers on shot shells can effect the chamber pressure of the load. Also, it depends on powder being used. I have strictly adhered to the recipes listed in shot shell loading manuals, and have never experienced a problem.

Think I'd stick with what the manual says.

It's wisest to follow shot-shell recipes as printed. Loading guides recommend against primer substitution -- even with similar seeming primers like Federal 209's and Federal 209A's or Remington 209's and Remington 209P's. An exception is CCI 109's and CCI 209's, they are ballistically interchangeable.
