Use .44 magnum brass, 240 grain cast bullets, and substitute 250 grain .45 Colt load data. (But *not* "ruger only" data unless you just want to blow up your gun.) Fast powders like Red Dot or middle powders like Unique should work great for you.

I am not using a ball powder. So only people who use Unique are intelligent?

Sensible people have most only Unique & 4895 on their shelf... knowing that they have just about covered everything that comes along.

It takes really intelligent people to have .....

2400
Lil Gun
H110 and W296 (don’t ask me why)
SR4759

N130
IMR4198

IMR3031

... on their shelf (last time I looked), after having told everyone else that all they need is 4895 & Unique.

Hey !

I gots...

N130
N140
N160

... in my "collection."

(and N140, like IMR-4895, seems to somehow span the gap to make both my pipsqueak AR and my adult Garand/M-14/`03 family happy. Go figure....)

By the way, ball powder does not automatically necessitate 90% case fill. Tons of 231 is used successfully by target shooters in sub-50% fill loads. It is when you combine small spherical propellant grains with enough deterrent and low enough start pressure that you end up with ignition issues in low-fill loads.
