TiteGroup in 9mm

Anyone use TiteGroup in 9mm? Planning to try it under 124gn cast RN for a plinking load. Don't really save money reloading 9mm, but loaded ammo is hard to find here locally. Saves time and gas not having to drive 75 miles to buy some. Thanks.

I have been messing with W231 and Titegroup using 9MM 124G LRN very unhappy with the results.No matter what I do I can't stop the bullet it Keyhole something awful at 15 yards. As of now I am up to 4.4G of Titegroup will try at 4.8G .But am only shooting a gun with a 2" barrel.I took the same bullets and loaded them in my .357 using the same amount of powder and they shot just fine with a 4" barrel.The gun will shoot factory loads OK

I use titegroup for mild loads in 45acp but have been unhappy with results
in 9mm, for the 9 I use aa5.

I use TG for 9mm, 40, and 45:

9x19:
124gr plated RN
4.2gr Titegroup
1.130" nominal

45ACP:
200gr PRN
5.1gr Titegroup
1.250" nominal

40SW/LONG (STI/SV IPSC pistols only due to length):
180gr JHP
4.9gr Titegroup
1.230" nominal
WSR

Basically what Zak said. His loads are all good. The best 9 load is a 147gr at 3.3gr and 1.155

I cant get 1.230 to work in my STI 40 though.

i was wondering what kind of velocities i would be getting out of my xdm9 with the 4.5 inch barrel

using 4.5g titegroup
124g rn
1.14 oal

I like TG. If I remember correctly I was right at a 1087 fps average with 4.2 grns of TG under a 115 grn plated RN bullet. This load cycled fine in my 92.

I like TG as an overall powder so far in 38/357.

Working on some loads for my 9's. So far I have tried:

4.3 Grains Titegroup
115 Grain Montana Gold - FMJHP
1.105 OAL
Nice shooting load

3.6 Grains Titegroup
125 Grain LRN
1.145 PAL
Less than satisfactory results - still tinkering with bigger bullet weights - my gun may like the lighter bullets - hard to tell just yet

Getting ready to try some Berry's in 124 Grain FP

All shot out of my Ruger SR9

Next caliber is 40 S&W.

I like working with TG, meters very well and to me is clean.

Almost all my 9mm reloads use Titegroup. Accurate enough for me and it doesn't take a lot of powder per round.

Really, I buy my lead bullets and it costs me 10 cents per round to load. $5.00 per 50 rounds. Are you buying factory ammo for $5.00 per box? If you are please post there info and I'll stop re-loading

I tried it with lead 147 GR bullets in 9mm and found it to be amazingly accurate out of a Beretta Storm carbine.
But it was very dirty and the cases were hard to clean. My favorite for all autos is and will remain W231.

I just finished loading 1,000 rounds of 9mm plated Berru's with Titegroup. Love this powder for plinking loads in almost any caliber, but I do not like it for use with lead bullets. In my experience it burns too hot and produces a lot of smoke (likely from the lube). With FMJ or plated, works great. With lead I use something else.

The 'TiteGroup Scorch' is common with lower level loads as the case doesn't fully obturate to the chamber wall. It's a simple matter to tumble your brass a bit longer and it comes right off.

TiteGroup was designed for low to mid range charges and because it burns so hot, it's not a good choice for lead or moly coated bullets. It was designed for use with plated and/or jacketed bullets.

Also, because it is such a fast burning powder, use extreme caution if going for max charge loads (not recommended) because it's really easy to overshoot the SAAMI max pressure.

I've just worked up some 115gr FMJ and JHP 9mm with 4.0gr of TG. Was pretty happy with the results.

I've been using TiteGroup for several years now ....in 9mm, .40S&W, .45acp, .38spl, .357 mag and .44mag ...

I like it a lot / its pretty clean and it meters very well.

I load a lot of 124gr RN bullets for 9mm - and I use 4.3gr TiteGroup and its been a very consistent load. It runs equally well in my 1911's chambered in 9mm as well as a Sig 226 / and a Sig 239 ...
