Want to apologize...

I feel it necessary to apologize to members of the forum that are LEOs of all forms for a rude comment I made in another thread.

Even though it was not meant as a blanket accusation toward LEOs, it could be construed that way. In retrospect, I should have found a better way to express myself. Hind sight is 20/20 as they say. Thank you and a sincere apology from me to the Guys&Gals in Law Enforcement.

I went through the academy with a guy... we called him Barney Fife... All agreed that he should probably have only one bullet. The nick-name stuck his entire career.

Dont feel bad. I read the post... and was in no way insulted. Everyone in policeing knows someone like that. Barny Fife is real...lol

Son, if that's the worst thing you've said to someone over the net, I'm ready to crown you pope.

Look, it is good you did see the error in your post, and your post here is a strait apology.

And it was a far better than Helen Thomas's statement and her apology.

Oh heck, that wasn't abrasive or anything. Besides which, most of us like old Barney. I have a poster of Deputy Fife in my reloading room.

I think the image of Barney Fife is a reminder to us all of what not to be. Barney was always a loud talking, impulsive individual who never thought out his actions and always pulling out his revolver or had his hand on his revolver for situations that could have been resolved without...

I think the Fife image is a good example for us alll...a good example of what not to do...

Thank You

Sir, I did not read your post so I was not offended. I want you to know it takes a big person to admit a mistake and and even bigger person to atone for one in a public forum.

THANKS!!

Yes John, Barney was all of those things. As are we all from time to time, at least internally, as we struggle with our humanity. Barney was also kind, helpful, protective of others, completely loyal, active in his church and community, and despite his many shortcomings, ready to put it on the line against anything, to keep others from harm. All are traits I find most admirable.

I appreciate your sentiment and moral courage. I think you were trying to make a rhetorical point, and took no offense.

CPC must not be familiar with cop humor, or he'd know just how mild that one was .

Still, as a retired LEO with almost 3 decades of service, I find honor and courage in your apology.

Sadly though, this is more than a little off topic, so we have to close it down.

A sincere thank you, but closed.
