I knew a guy from Finland and I told him my only goal for the day was to learn how to pronounce his name.

I pronounce it: Vee-tah-vor-ee
But, often hear: "That Russian *{crap}*". (I know, it's not Russian, but most people are idiots. Why would you expect an intelligent nick name?)

Another Finn, Bill Pawn-on-in.
I had to go stay in a hotel in Albuquerque so he could fly back to home for domestic time with his wife. My father designed a vehicle with a 20 mm Lahti gun. He says it said in the ammo boxes not to lube the belted ammo. He could not get it to not jam without oiling the ammo. My father is 1/4 Finnish, but had no respect for Finnish instructions. |

The easiest way to pronounce it is "Veeta-voori".

Lap wa is the way.
They call them "crazy Finns" but I did take a ride in a rally car at speed on a very narrow, winding tree lined road, -and I'm still here ! ![]() They fought off the Russians in 1940 [?] and they PAID BACK their debt to us after the war ! The only country that did ! While they are ethnically Scandinavians their language is not ,that's why no one can pronounce it. |
