Changing the barrel of Ruger Super Redhawk

How difficult would it be to return this revolver to stock???

You'll need a rear sight assembly, a front sight, and fill the holes drilled into the metal to mount the rail. In other words, you can get close, but you will not return it to stock.

What about the barrel. Does the extra length come off?

There is no "extra length", if you look at a picture of an unmodified Super Redhawk you'll get a better feel for the modifications that have been done to the one in the link.

By the way, the Super Redhawk is not just a variant of a Redhawk, it's a completely different revolver internally and externally.

Oh they're made like that. Thought they were all snubby's.

probably going to get grilled for this but what would happen if one were to 'remove' the excess over 2.5 in?

The "snubbies" are called Alaskans.

For the price he's asking and the cost of having the barrel cut, recrowned and a new front sight milled into the frame it would likely be cheaper just to buy a new SRH Alaskan.

@laytonj1

After looking around I'm amazed at how cheap they are selling. From what i read ruger is the only one that can handle the supped up rounds and they're 2-300 less than the smiths. I'm scared to look up what a 3in anaconda would be. I guess brand name is everything.

@JohnKSa

I did some research into the differences and i appreciate you bringing that to my attention. The SRH definitely looks to be the better choice (less the grips) i just can't get into the grips. But in the important stuff it definitly wins out. Good lookin out!

I was a bit confused from your initial post and thought, perhaps, that you were thinking that the gun should look like a regular Redhawk. Glad my confusion resulted in something useful to you.

The cheapest solution is to send it back to Ruger. Their turnaround time is good too.
