I went with MidSouth shooters supply. $368 and about $18 on shipping. Is the Powder Cop the only game in town or are there other safety devices like this I should look at?

There are better things I think. Powder Cop only gives you visual indication, so you need to constantly check it... while there are several other things you need to pay attention to. You can take a look at the RCBS Lock-Out die, and also the Dillon powder check, that gives you an audible alarm:

Having said that, I don't use any such device... in 30 years never seen any need for it.

Hey Foxbat,

I think this is the first thing I have ever seen you write that I am in agreement. We both see no need for a powder cop or similar item. The case activated powder dispenser works just fine for me, but I do not use extruded powders in it.

Best wishes,

About a month ago Amazon had the Hornady LNL for $368- FREE Shipping. I was going to buy mine through them. Got ready to do it and the price changed to $468. A week later it was down to $432. It's now back up to $468. I wrote them a nasty email but it got me nowhere so I went with MidSouth. In the end, I guess I'm glad to give the business to a smaller company but it would have been nice to avoid the shipping cost.

yeah, I looked at Amazon.

Okay, so as far as powder safety devices, with my single press I look at every load as I seat it. I am not sure how the progressive will be. Can you visually inspect the load as it drops, or is it in a part of they press where you can't see it.
The powder cop seems okay, but then I will be constantly looking at the white ring. If I have to look anyway, why use it.
The RCBS lock out seems good in that it stops operation or changes the feel, so you don't actually have to be watching it.
I believe the Dillon is a sound alarm, which would be nice.
How hard is it to inspect the loads with the Hornady, especially with harder to see loads like .223 or other tall cases?
Thanks.

When I had Hornady, I never had any concerns. The powder measure clunks right over your head, it is hard to miss it. And every now and then you just look at the container - is there still powder in it.

One thing to watch for on its powder measure, is the screws tightness. With time some of them might become loose and then the accuracy goes into toilet - happened to me once. Check them from time to time and tighten.

I have no idea why you maliciouly attack the LNL AP and the people who use them, but the above statement is untrue in my experience.

Do you realize just how ridiculous you are making such statements? I hope you do.

Is this because I called you on your totally missleading post today?

Kudos Shoney!

Your post #15 above is on target and accurate. The response in #18 was not logical , and in a round about way proved your point.

Congratulations! There was no need for you to respond to it when your original kicked intellectual butt.

Hats off to you! Shoney!
