primers in stock?
Hi,
I am new to reloading and I am currently deciding which equipment to purchase. I am having trouble finding primers in stock anywhere. I know there has been a hoarding problem but wanted to see if anyone had any advice where to find some in stock or who the best supplier might be in order to get them asap. Thanks! |

Check the stock at Wideners, Powder Valley, Graf and sons, Midway, Midsouth, etc. You need to check every couple of days. They go fast once they are in stock. I put each primer website page in my web brouser favorites and put them in a separate folder. That way I can efficiently zip through the sites checking on primer availability. Last week I bought some Wolf large rifle primers from Wideners. They were only in stock about 36-48 hours.
I have also found primers on Craigslist and Backpage (like Craigslist but you see a lot more gun related items as well as guns themselves.) Some people are trying to make a killin' but I have found some at a reasonable price ($32/1000 CCI small pistol primers). Hope this helps. |

You can also try Cabellas.
My last back order for large pistol primers was filled in two weeks. Might have been just good luck though. |

Luck I would say, I have had small pistol primers on order with Cabellas for months. Midway will not even take a backorder on primers.

I've had primers on backorder at Cabelas since April. In the meantime I've managed to collect enough to keep me occupied but I'm not sure those are ever coming in!
If you watch the Natchez site every day (literally check it 3-4 times a day), primers will eventually come in. They go very fast but I managed to collect about 10,000 that way a few months ago. I've stopped looking since but I assume they are still getting sporadic shipments. |

Thanks for the heads up. I went to Natchez and they showed Winchester primers in stock. Ordered some right away.
Thanks Mike |

I am located in St. Louis, MO. I have been checking everywhere I can think of. It would be great to find some locally so I don't have to pay the hazmat charges. Plus I am trying to get the reloading equipment and to make it worth it for the hazmat charges I have to spend quite a bit.

I have been feeling whole lot better since it was explained to me that there actually was no shortage of primers... incredible what some Grand Illusion can do to you! I thank those people who set me straight on this one... I have learned to love the current situation and not be afraid of the future!
![]() ![]() ![]() Seriously, though... I have been stocking up on primers. I now have about 40,000 on my shelf, and more coming from time to time, and I use them a lot all the time. There is no secret... I buy on Gun Broker. If you take your time to shop, you will find nice deals. I once got 5000 spp for $160 including shipping... hazmat and all... last time I paid a bit more, about $200... to which I say - BIG DEAL! So my ammo price went up about .7 cent a piece - I can live with that. So my advice is simple - keep looking. The shortage is real (sorry guys... it IS real!), but you can deal with it. |

Try armsandammo.com I got some CCI large rifle primers there two weeks ago. It was the only site I found that had them. But you have to call in to see if they're in stock. I hope you get the chick, because she knew what was in stock, I called back 5 mins later (decided that an online order might not make it through in time) and the guy who answered told me they were out but I told him to ask the chick and lo and behold I got 'em.

Down here in Little Rock there were maybe a hundred thousand or more, lots of rifle primers, at Fort Thompson. Fort Thompson Sporting Goods Inc. (501) 835-3006, 5802 Warden Rd, Sherwood, AR 72120
I bought 2K Large and 2K Small Pistol on Saturday and they had lots and lots left. Might be pushing it drive-wise, but they're here |
