stupid question

ok im using a Lee classic hand loader. the kind you do by hand. i have great sucsses with it. i dont reload hundreds of rounds, just around 50 a week or so. im getting a new pistol soon, and planed on it being a .40 s&w but it seems lee does not make a classic loader for it. does anyone know if they do make one and im looking in the wrong place? or should i just get a .45 acp because they do have a loader for it. thanks

All I can say is try Lee Precision's website. If they don't list it there, they don't make it.

If it is there, try MidwayUSA to buy it online.

I am just making sure you are indeed looking at the Lee Hand Press, not the rack and whack Lee Loader.

I looked at the Lee site and the Graf & Sons site for the Hand Press. They did not list any dies coming with the kit, just that dies are ordered seperately. By this I would take it that the 40SW can be reloaded with the hand press.

The Lee hand press accepts standard 7/8 x 14 die threads, so you could use any manufacturer's 40sw die - RCBS, Hornady, Redding, Lyman, etc.

Ditto what the other guys said. I got confused between the handloader and classic "whacker" loader. The whacker works for only one caliber. The handloader uses any common dies.

The Lee Loader is the hand/hammer loader. The flaring tool is part of the loading tool.

Here's page one of what's available on the midway site for the whack-a-lee;

http://www.midwayusa.com/Search/#lee...randName%20asc

I doubt they ever did make one. Here's what I would suggest for a limited loader set-up for 40 S&W.

Lee hand tool, works like a nut cracker, takes standard 7/8 X 14 dies. This includes a means to prime using the press.

A set of 40 S&W lee dies.
