41 Mag rifle loads
Who has a Marlin 1894 in 41 mag and rolls their own? What's your favorite load?
I've been using 20 grains of H110 under a 210 grain XTP bullet, have some 170 grain HP's and AA #9 on hand too. |

My best friend has a Marlin 1894 in .41 magnum. I don't know the powder charges, but he likes the heavier bullets in the rifle. I seem to recall his favorites were 265 gr. bullets using H110... I will ask him when I see him.

I do cowboy shooting with My 1894 Marlin, so instead of heavy hot loads I have a very mild, light load of 5.0 grains of Titegroup behind generic 210-215 cast lead SWC bullets. My 41 Mag Redhawk seems to like 20 grains of Lil'gun behind a 220 grain Keith SWC in linotype. You could probably go a little higher, the 2004 Hodgdon magazine lists the maximum of 22.5 for the 210 grain Hornady XTP bullet, but my Redhawk seems to have an accuracy sweet spot at 20 grains.

I've shot 75 or so of the H110 loads through it, haven't done a real test of accuracy yet but they seem to work well.
All I've read and been told is that lead bullets do not work well with the Marlins microgroove rifling - prone to fouling. |

Made my first reloads ever.
Remington .41 Magnum .410 cal Nosler 210gr JHP Winchester/Remington mixed brass ~20gr H110 powder (1.26cc of Lee powder measure) Federal 155 primer (Large magnum pistol) Shoots great in my Blackhawk. It didn't feel as stout as the Remington 210gr JSP's as far as recoil. |

For your Marlin try the 210 RP JSP bullet with 20.5 of WW 296 and a mag. primer in WW cases. The 200 JHP uses 21.5 with all else the same. CB.

For loads in my 44 rifle, i have found Lil'gun gives me the fastest loads. It was 150fps more than 110. Might want to try it in your 41 loads.
