crimping 7mm Mag. bullets

I'm new to rifle reloading so I want to know when loading bullets for my
7mm Rem. mag. that have no crimp rings do I still try to crimp and if so how much?

It depends on the type of crimp you are going to apply. If you plan on crimping with your seating die, then Yes, you should use the cannelure(groove), if you are going to use the Lee Factory Crimp Die, then crimping into to the cannelure is not a requirement. With the Lee Factory Crimp Die, only your rifle can tell you how much crimp to apply. Crimp and test for pressure and accuracy.

What rifle are you loading for that you are planning on crimping a 7MM Mag?

No crimp neccesary on bottle neck rifle cartridges. Neck tension is all that is needed.

I like to trim, camfer, debur and then just lightly twist the case mouth on a little steel wool so the bullet has a nice smooth exit.

Unless you are loading for a semi-auto I wouldn't crimp them at all.
