11-87 Headache...
As you can tell by the title I've about had it with this 11-87. I am not a gunsmith but I do have some experience in doing basic work on firearms, unfortunately non of them have been 11-87's. The problem I have encountered with this 11-87 is that it will not cycle. When fired the bolt does not even begin to move. I have replaced the gas ring, checked the gas piston, bolt and carrier and trigger assembly, all of which appear to be fine. In performing a function check I've found that it is possible to manually cycle the bolt while the carrier is fully depressed. This is not possible on my other 11-87 of the same model (which cycles perfectly) which leads me to believe that is where the problem lies. Any help you all can provide will be much appreciated because I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking and would like to get this thing back up and running without having to make a trip to a gunsmith.
Thanks, John |

Is it fitted with a pressure compensating barrel? Some 11-87 barrels are pressure compensated, some aren't. If it is a pressure compensating barrel, check to make sure the pressure compensating ring is in place on the barrel extension.
