Albanian 10-Point
Took my 1969 Albanian SKS hunting this year for the first time. It is an exceptionally accurate rifle and I had very high confidence in it inside of 300 meters from a recent range trip.
Took this guy at just about 100 yards as he ghosted through the woods in the failing evening light. I am now a HUGE fan of amber shooting glases for hunting as it really increased the clarity in low light levels in the morning and evenings. First shot missed the vitals clipping his spine, the second shot found the boiler-room and put him down for good. Do not overlook the effectiveness of the 7.62x39mm for Whitetails. Federal 123g JSP sure did the trick.

Congrats. You are happy with the result and that is all that matters. Now can I sell you the latest SUPER magnum high powered wonder rifle, that might just blow the deer up on contact at any range.
GOOD DEER in any book.

Albanian is bone stock original, iron sights, no optics.
Felt satisfying to take this one old school. Don

I'd like to try that with my Yugo sometime. I've worked up some test loads and need to get to the range. Nice buck.

My Albanian shoots dead on at 185 meters with the rear sight set at 200 meters. Set the sights at 100m and its about 2" high from point of aim.
I'll have to shoot some pics of the rifle as well.

Thanks Sasquatch. Own three, have shot them but I`ve never done any serious shooting with them. Did shoot one that was full auto once. Had to turn it sideways in order to control it.

I have a Norinco SKS. It seems that I have a lot of problems with stovepipe jams. Could it be from the ammo or is it just a bad weapon? I use wolf jacketed hollow points. Almost gaurantee every five to seven rounds its going to jam.

In northern Missouri and up into LapLand, they refer to these SKS's as Missouri Deer Rifles. A great response to gun grabbers that say these do not have any place in a hunting enviroment. In fact, there are many shooters and hunters that have no use for them.

Super Nice Buck!
Doesn't look old enough to be tough and "gamey", so the venison should be First Class....... Chalk ANOTHER ONE up to Old School... Mighty Fine Job. |
