7mm rem mag/hodgen extream

im looking at working up a new load for my rem 700 7mm. im currently using h-414 and 110 gr v-max bullets. its my coyote gun so i dont need a heavy bullet.

accuracy is the only thing that matters to me. if i find a load that shoots .5 at 2000 fps thats what ill go with. i can figure out extra drop. (i know it will be faster than 2000 fps its a figure of speach)

the reason im getting away from 414 is tempature sincintivity. so im wanting to use a hodgen extream powder. im leaning towards h4350 or h1000. anyone got a preferance between the extream powders for my use

It may boil down to which powder is available, rather than which is best.

The H1000 was formulated for the overbore magnums, however, it works better with the heavier bullets.

The H4350 would be a better choice, and should do very well. You migh also think about the H4831SC.

Regardless of the extreem designation, temperature still effects the extreem powders. It would be best to work up loads relatively close to the temps you will be hunting in.

Good Shooting!

absolutly. i reasize the temp will still affect my bullet speed, but right now im using h-414 and it will be much better than that.

as far as avaibility i really haven't had much of a problem. i have 4350 and 4381 on my bench now. the local shop has h1000. ill probably try both. i bought both to work on my 260. i went with 4350 for it so hopfully i can use the 4381 on the 7mm.

What are the load limits you intend to use for the H1000/100gr bullet?

i really hadn't got that far yet. ill probably stay with the 4350 and 4381 since i already have it. im not a big fan of loading extreamly hot rounds. i usually stay on the low pressure end.

the load i use now is 62.5 of 414. i think my chrono read just over 3200fps with that and it was a great group so i stayed there. this is a coyote gun so my long shots will be 400 yds.
