The .223 might be a vermint round but the 5.56 is military no? From my reading the snipers in Iraq did extremely well at close range engagements with the standard 20 inch upper. They made note that the terminal ballistics were better on the heavier bullets and they upgraded to match triggers with I assume trijicons. I found the book Trigger Men to be a interesting read even though it was a bit repetitive.
