Another Ballistol use?

In a previous post, mykeal mentioned that he uses a 5:1 ratio of water and Ballistol to lube his wads for use over the powder in revolvers. The water evaporates and leaves a dry lubed wad. Has anyone tried a similar use of Ballistol for lubing patches when shooting round balls in a rifle? If so what were the results.

Yep. Me again. The ratio changes depending on the rifle. I use 7:1 in my .54 flint GPR but 5:1 is best in both my CVA kit guns (caplocks). I haven't settled on the right choice for Thompson Center Hawkens yet; I suspect each one is different.

$20 and worth 100 times as much. Dutch is the one who turned me on to using cutting oil, or essentially mineral oil based lubes such as Ballistol to 'dry lube' patches. Follow the directions. They work.

Thanks, mykeal. I had to ask the question; because I have become a real Ballistol junkie. I use it for just about everything except as a salad dressing. If I liked the taste of liquorice, I might be tempted to throw out the blue cheese.
