6.5x284
Anybody loading for this? I just got one that was gunsmith built and it has a 26" Shilen barrel with a 1 in 9 twist.
I will start with 100 or 120 gr. bullets. Norma brass, that's about as far as I've thought so far. I have several powders in the 4350 range. It will be used for paper, coyotes, and antelope when the opportunity presents itself. 350 yards max. Thanks for anything...............Ron

Try 51.5 g h4831 sc with 140g berger, that's what my smith uses in the 1k matches

I have two, first one built on a Rem 700 VSL short action/Kreiger 26"1:8 ss heavy barrel/brake custom built weighs about 18 lbs / scope. I had some health issues and was not able to shoot it much at that time. The other is a Savage Long Hunter 1:8 with a brake long action factory rifle.
I am just now getting around to really work them out at the range. The Savage will be used for hunting coyotes to deer at ranges out to 300 using 100 to 130g bullets. The custom Rem is a bench rest gun and set up to go 1000 yds if I could find a place to shoot it that far. Would be nice to try F-class with it. I load 140 g bullets for it. I keep my loads under 2900 and use 4831 and RL-22 powders. I got lucky and bought Lapua and Norma brass when the custom was being built and brass was way cheaper then. Factory ammo is available, selection is poor and cost is way high for me. I do not think the 6.5x284 is anymore of a barrel bunner than than others as in .220 swift, .22-250, .264 and this is with factory ammo, in this sport its not who gets there first it who get closest. I don't have it anymore but the 6.5x284 I had barrel twist was 1/8.5 throated for the 142gr VLD on a long action. My accuracy loads were 2950fps appr used H-4831
Here a good article on the 6.5x284 http://www.6mmbr.com/sixfive284.html
