New guy appreciating the information
I didn't realize this site existed until I was looking into some info on starting my own reloading.
There is a lot to sort through here... |

Heh...I'm betting they do...I hope they do...
After going through posts for about an hour, and reading the sticky at the top, I think the Lee Turret Press is the one I have the ability to use competently, and will suit all my needs, without taking over my shop space! I'm all excited now! [edit] Quote:

Welcome - lots of knowledge / solid opinions in here - good stuff. Reloading is fun / and part of the hobby for a lot of us. Read lots of books / get a lot of input before you buy any equipment - there are a lot of options out there these days.

Well, ditto on what everyone else here said ... but a word of caution ... a caveat, if you will. Don't get caught up in the massive amount of info here. Otherwise, you might get the "paralysis by analysis" syndrome - and never get started. Get yourself one of the recommended loading manuals (a thread is going on about this at the moment) and read it. Then, after you've cruised this site enough to get a feel for the equipment, go buy something. A good friend of mine (also a reloader) used to say, "sooner or later, it's time to stop cutting bait and start fishing". A turret press is a good start - especially since it's hard to find a bad one. And even if you get more sophisticated down the road (i.e. a progressive press ... maybe), your turret will still work and provide plenty of use. There's obviously a list of other stuff you need to start - it's been listed many times before, so I won't repeat it here (plus you'll find it in your reloading book). Just buy the basics right now. I love this hobby. When I started 20+ years ago, I was living in Michigan's U.P., with a single gun store within miles that had reloading equipment, and they sold Lee mostly (reloading stuff via mail order was about non-existent during this period). So I ended up with a Lee turret, because that's what I could afford. The best choice out there? Don't know ... don't care. It got me started, and I still use it to this day, although I have added several presses along the way. Sorry for the rant. Just sometimes I feel that newcomers get here and get the overwhelming feeling that this is all way too involved/complicated. And it really isn't. dogfood |

Welcome to TFL PyroBob!
Lots of people here don't know shinola about reloading, but even fewer know less about latin. Quote:

Way to go Et tu Brute CrustyFN!
Now for weapons related latin. Quemadmoeum gladuis neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. Cum catapultae proscriptae erunt tum soli proscripti catapultas habebunt.

Cabela's has a Lee Classic Turret Press KIT which comes with Safety Prime and a Pro Auto disc measure as well as a few other odds and ends. I am getting it as a B-day present from my wife. Go to Cabela's website and search for Lee Turret and it will come up.
I also am a newbie and this site is GREAT. Habor Freight has digital calipers for about half of what The Sportsman's Warehouse (Columbia, SC) does. I picked up one yesterday for $15.99. I am sure there are better ones out there, but I figured it wa cheap enough to try. |

Thanks for all the tips! I'll be honest, I started this whole endeavor just trying to save a buck, but I'm beginning to wish I had done it sooner.
Sorry, I missed the first round of stuff...my latin is not great, though, don't feel impressed. Quote:
